CFU team

We are a team of experienced and highly-qualified professionals from the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who aim to provide first class services, advice and support for couples seeking fertility treatment.

Cotswold Fertility Unit (CFU) was established in 2009 and is run by Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Reproductive Medicine, Mrs Kalpana Reddy, along with a team of other doctors and a specialist nursing team. The staffs at CFU brings more than 20 years of experience and knowledge to the range of reproductive and infertility problems couples face and part of our success is due to this.

Meet our team:

Mrs Kalpana Reddy, Consultant Gynaecologist

Mrs Reddy is the Director, Medical Manager and Person Responsible for the Cotswold Fertility Unit. As a Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, she was instrumental in founding the unit in 2009.

Mrs Reddy’s particular areas of interest are infertility and laparascopic surgery, endometriosis, tubal surgery and ovarian cysts, specialist male infertility, cancer and fertility treatment, transvaginal ultrasound scanning for gynaecology, polycystic ovarian syndrome, recurrent miscarriage and premature ovarian failure.

Shiji John, Fertility Nurse

Shiji qualified as a registered nurse in India before moving to UK in 2018. She worked over five years in Accident & Emergency (A&E), where she developed strong clinical judgment, rapid decision-making skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care. Over time she found herself increasingly drawn to the field of reproductive health and fertility medicine and hence transitioned into the role of a Fertility Nurse.

In June 2023, Shiji joined our team to be trained and has been actively involved in all aspects of assisted reproductive treatments, including patient education, care coordination, medication administration, and emotional support.

Shiji is dedicated to providing holistic, patient-centred care and takes pride in guiding patients through the often complex and emotional IVF process. Her background in acute care has equipped her with strong communication and organizational skills, which she now applies in a more focused and supportive setting within fertility nursing.

Anna Vaughan, Fertility Nurse

Anna trained at Birmingham City University and qualified as a nurse in 2015 achieving a first class honours degree in Adult Nursing. She went on to be trained as a fertility nurse in 2018.

Anna worked as a fertility nurse for a large private IVF unit in Birmingham since 2018 before joining our team in Cheltenham in February 2025. She has many years of experience in managing IVF patients and has had the experience of co-ordinating the egg donation programme. Anna has transferred her expertise to facilitate a smooth running of our satellite IVF unit co-ordinating with Oxford Fertility Unit. She also has additional experience in fertility ultrasound, phlebotomy and conducting treatment planning appointments.

Anna has been actively involved in training fertility nurses.
