About Us

We are a team of experienced and highly-qualified professionals from the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who aim to provide first class services, advice and support for couples seeking fertility treatment.

Cotswold Fertility Unit (CFU) was established in 2009 and is run by Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Reproductive Medicine, Mrs Kalpana Reddy, along with a team of other doctors and a specialist nursing team. The staffs at CFU brings more than 20 years of experience and knowledge to the range of reproductive and infertility problems couples face and part of our success is due to this.

Meet our team:

Mrs Kalpana Reddy, Consultant Gynaecologist

Mrs Reddy is the Director, Medical Manager and Person Responsible for the Cotswold Fertility Unit. As a Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, she was instrumental in founding the unit in 2009.

Mrs Reddy’s particular areas of interest are infertility and laparascopic surgery, endometriosis, tubal surgery and ovarian cysts, specialist male infertility, cancer and fertility treatment, transvaginal ultrasound scanning for gynaecology, polycystic ovarian syndrome, recurrent miscarriage and premature ovarian failure.

Kate McMillan, Bank Fertility Nurse

Kate trained at University of the West of England and qualified as a nurse in 1996, she went on to study for a Diploma in Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Southbank University in London in 2001. She worked at the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit at St Georges Hospital in London before returning to Gloucestershire where she has continued to specialise in Gynaecology and Ultrasonography working in a variety of different settings within this field.

Kate has experience in managing IVF patients since 2013 having trained as a fertility nurse.  She currently has taken an active role as a sonographer but also helps the fertility unit  doing bank shifts.

Qualifications: RGN Dip. HE. Clinical Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Sarah Lane, Lead Fertility Nurse

Sarah qualified as a Registered Adult Nurse in 2010 having trained at Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust. She worked within Oncology and Intensive Care Unit for 2 years before undertaking her Midwifery training in 2012 at Birmingham City Hospital. Following qualification she joined Gloucester Maternity Unit and became a Core staff member on the maternity ward until commencing her training post at Cotswold Fertility Unit in 2018.

Sarah has gained experience in managing IVF patients ever since. She now leads the unit and is actively involved in training fertility nurses.

Qualifications: RGN, BSc (Hons) Midwifery
